Once upon a time, I was a fool and honestly felt that a groom-zilla like me could handle an event as big as my own wedding.  Around 4 months out, I suddenly realized that there was no way in hell I could possibly pull this off and still enjoy myself.  

Luckily for me and the new spousal unit, we met Rekha at a caterer tasting and hit it off.  

She wasn't like other wedding planners I met that wanted to be my best friend.  She was 100% professional and outlined exactly what she felt her job was:  she wanted to help us create, plan, and execute our perfect day.  She finally won me over when I told her of my plan to walk down the isle to the Imperial March (think Darth Vader's music) and said how great it would be! Sold!

Even though we were utilizing Rekha's talents only on the day of the event, she put a lot of time into the time line, site map and other things.  We easily used up 20+ hours of her time just in phone calls.  I never called too late (or so she said) when I was having a panic attack about the color of the flowers my wife to be picked out and mediated when I wanted to turn the site coordinators skull into a punch bowl for the head table.  I can only imagine if we had been able to use her full service planning to make our vendor selection seamless.

On the day of, she was on top of EVERYTHING.  When I was pacing around, she'd get me into the shade to keep cool.  Problems I found out later she handled swiftly and properly.  

I also plan events (not weddings) for my job and I always said "you can plan 75% of any event, the rest is by the seat of your pants!"  

And while no live event ever goes off perfectly, thanks to Rekha, ours got as close as anyone will ever get.  Ever.
